Chatroom Johannesburg
As a Public Relations graduate who spent 10 months in corporate, in the aviation industry, adapting to an agency environment is interesting. I have been with Chatroom Joburg for two months by now and I am looking forward to working more on different projects for the various clients that Chatroom has.
In the short period of time that I have been a part of the Chatroom team I have been privileged to work on an Adidas PR pitch and the JSE/Liberty Investment Challenge account. The pitch allowed me to learn more about Adidas as a brand and their soccer boots. Being involved in the process of developing a pitch was exciting and a learning curve. Whilst working on the pitch I learnt to fully understand the importance of using social media to target your audience. The JSE/Liberty Investment Challenge was in its last month when I was given the task in drafting a media release for the Gauteng regional winners. I had to understand the actual investment challenge and how it operated in order for me to write a news worthy release. Then I distributed the media release which gave me the opportunity to communicate with the media, an activity I look forward to doing even more.
The biggest advantage about working for a full-service communications agency is that one is able to learn more and be hands on with several projects. The major principle that I have picked up from the team already is that each client you work with should be given 100% at all times. I am looking forward to working with the rest of the CPT team, everyone I have been in contact with so far has been very nice. I hope it’s not just because I am new, which I doubt. :-) I am looking forward to taking this journey with Chatroom one day at a time.
